About Us

Billton Motors is a limited company registered in England and Wales, registration number 12488316. Our trading address is Billton Motors, 5 Carr Road Industrial Estate, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE1 5YA. Billton Motors Limited is VAT-registered. Billton Motors Limited is an experienced second-hand car dealership located in the city centre of Peterborough. Vehicle descriptions and specifications are checked regularly and updated accordingly. Information provided by the vehicle manufacturer is not always accurate and is automatically generated. Our staff are more than happy to confirm the specification upon request. The mileage listed on our adverts may alter from the point of listing and sale. This is due to test drives, MOT appointments, and servicing. Please check with us if you want to clarify the exact odometer reading. We carry out HPI checks on our stock to ensure the vehicle does not have outstanding finance, has been written off, or is stolen.

Appointments

To book a viewing or test drive for one of our vehicles, you should contact us at 01733 315052 or email us at [email protected]. Appointments are conditional until confirmed by Billton Motors Limited. You must hold a full UK driving licence in order to take a vehicle for a test drive and your photocard licence must be produced upon request. Failing to produce your driving license will result in a test drive being refused. Our stock is updated on a regular basis. Sometimes updates to our website and Autotrader can be delayed so if you intend on visiting without an appointment, please contact us beforehand to ensure the vehicle remains available. If you arrange a viewing or test drive without a deposit payment, we will update you at our earliest opportunity if the vehicle is purchased or reserved prior to your appointment. Appointments for viewings and test drives do not reserve a vehicle. We are not liable if you visit our showroom and find the vehicle has been sold or is unavailable. Please contact us at your earliest convenience should you wish to cancel or rearrange an appointment. In the event we can no longer fulfill your appointment, we will contact you at our earliest opportunity.

Deposit

You can reserve a vehicle with a holding deposit until you have the opportunity to view, test drive and finalise the sale. The deposit required is dependent on the retail value of the car. Deposits will prevent other consumers from purchasing the vehicle before your appointment and will be deducted from the total amount payable. If you no longer wish to pursue the purchase, the deposit will be refunded to you within 2 working days, unless we have incurred costs preparing the vehicle at your request. Any costs incurred will be deducted from your deposit unless otherwise agreed. If the costs incurred exceed the deposit amount, you will not be entitled to any refund, unless otherwise agreed.

Part Exchange

We are happy to consider your current vehicle as part exchange. Offers made by Billton Motors Limited are based on trade value and are conditional until otherwise confirmed. Our offers will take multiple factors into consideration including but not limited to: make and model; year of manufacture; and vehicle condition. Billton Motors Limited will finalise any offer made for part exchange vehicles when the vehicle has been viewed and test driven by a member of staff.

Collection and Delivery

A suitable time and date will be arranged between you and us for the collection or delivery of the vehicle. We can arrange delivery for an extra fee. The cost is dependent on the travel distance and size/weight of the vehicle. Vehicles will be delivered via vehicle transporter, or our experienced staff can deliver the vehicle themselves. The delivery method is dependent on staff numbers, distance, and time. This will be discussed at the point of sale. You will be updated regularly regarding the delivery of the vehicle including when the vehicle has left our forecourt, estimated time of arrival, and any potential delays during the journey. Delivery fees become non-refundable once the vehicle has left our forecourt. Once the vehicle has been prepared, collection or delivery must be completed within 7 days. We cannot store or hold vehicles unless agreed.

Payment

All payments are to be made by bank transfer unless otherwise agreed. Debit card payments are acceptable up to a specific amount, please ask for more details. We do not accept payments by credit card, American Express, or cheque. Finance applications can be processed on your behalf via a third-party credit broker.

Warranty

All vehicles sold by Billton Motors Limited will come with a minimum of 3 months warranty unless stated otherwise. This can be upgraded and/or extended for an additional cost. The warranty claim limit will depend on the make, model, and value of your vehicle. You will have the option to increase the claim limit for a reasonable cost should you wish. You will be liable for any costs that exceed the claim limit within your policy. You will receive your warranty documentation via email. If any issues arise following the purchase of a vehicle, your first port of call is to contact the warranty provider to register a claim and they will discuss the next steps.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015

All consumers have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires that the vehicle purchased is:

  • Of satisfactory quality
  • Fit for a particular purpose
  • As described

If there is a problem, you may be entitled to a repair, refund, replacement or price reduction but this will depend on the circumstances. Multiple factors are taken into consideration when determining if a vehicle is of satisfactory quality, including but not limited to:

  • Vehicle age
  • Current mileage
  • Price paid

 Short-Term Right to Reject

Consumers are entitled to reject the vehicle and get a refund if they experience a problem with your vehicle in the first 30 days. If you wish to exercise this right, you must:

  • Prove the goods are not of satisfactory quality or not fit for a particular purpose or not as described and
  • Prove that the fault in question was present at the time of delivery

You will be required to return the vehicle to us in person, at your cost unless otherwise agreed. Please note, that wear and tear items do not warrant a right to reject.

Remedies Following Short-Term Right to Reject

You will no longer be entitled to reject your vehicle if you experience an issue after the first 30 days. Instead, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement, depending on the circumstances. When a repair is offered, you must give us reasonable time to complete the repair. You will not be able to claim back any money you have paid out if you have taken the vehicle elsewhere for a repair to be completed. We do not and can not provide a courtesy vehicle during the period your vehicle is in for repair. You will be required to source an alternative method of transport. In the event, the initial repair does not fix the problem. You can ask us for further repair, a reduction in price, or return the vehicle. If we agree for the vehicle to be returned, deductions will be made for the use you have had of the vehicle (i.e. mileage). You will be required to return the vehicle to us in person, at your cost unless otherwise agreed. It is your duty to prove there is a fault that renders the vehicle not of satisfactory quality, not fit for a particular purpose, or not as described. Additionally, in the first 30 days and at any time after 6 months, it is up to you to prove that the issue was present at the time you took delivery of the vehicle.
